Julia O'Connell was born about 1820 in Gale Parish, County Kerry, Ireland. She was the daughter of Edmond O'Connell and Bridget Costelloe. She and John Purtill were married on the 23rd of January 1845[1] in Ballydonoghue, Ballybunion Parish. She died on the 1st of June 1903,[2] aged 83, in Ballydonoghue, Gale, Kerry, Ireland. Their children were:

Catherine Purtill, b.c. 1850.
Richard Purtill, bt. 5 Nov 1854.
Honora Purtill, bt. 5 Apr 1857.
Julia Purtill, bt. 1 Oct 1859.
Edmond Purtill, b.c. 1861.
John Purtill, bt. 28 Mar 1863.
